The catalog traces the continuous development in the artistic work of Justyna Janetzek through a selection of pieces from 2020 to 2023, for which she is known for her abstract, technically-constructive steel works. Extensive image material and short explanatory texts present Janetzek's site-specific installations, which skillfully play with perception and the laws of physics. They capture everyday impressions, emotions, encounters with people, irritations, and the ordinary. Janetzek's works reflect the diversity and complexity of our thinking. The catalog is supplemented by numerous videos accessible via QR codes, as well as by her own AR work.
Two new essays shed light on the artist's work from different perspectives. Special attention is also given to Janetzek's drawings, which have gained significance as an independent series of works in recent years. Originally intended as conceptual sketches to develop large-scale steel constructions, they have increasingly emancipated themselves from their purely auxiliary function. Her drawings become a place where seemingly illogical things become possible, and new distinctions are introduced into the world.
The "Unveil" edition consists of the catalogue and two unique pieces: an original drawing and a hand-printed linocut using the risograph technique. Both works reflect the complexity of Janetzek's art, as shown in the catalog. Through this medium, old and new perspectives are united, the complexity of our thinking is revealed, and new distinctions are introduced into the world.
